Assign Content to Catalog Items
Catalog Items are the packages that contain the learning objects. These can be delivered to a user by assigning them to the user. There are four types of Catalog Items namely, Resources, Course, Learning Paths, and Content Bundles. A Catalog Item can be created as Paid or free of cost. It can also have a Validity. While creating a Catalog Item, you can also specify whether it will be Independent, Part of a Catalog Item, or as both.
- A Resource contains only one learning object in them.
- A Course contains multiple learning objects in them.
- A Learning Path can contain courses and learning objects.
- A Content Bundle can contain learning paths, courses, and learning objects.
To create a new Catalog Item:
- In the Manage Content page, click the CATALOG ITEMS tab.
- Click the ADD CATALOG button.
- Choose the type of Catalog Item that needs to be created.
- The respective Catalog Item popup page opens.
- Fill in all the required details in the INFO tab. The fields marked with a red asterisk are mandatory.
- Check the Visibility and Auto Enroll check box and choose Group(s) if the Catalog Item must be visible and enrolled automatically only for a specific audience. Check Notification and Announcement if you want to send out notification and announcements about the new Catalog Item.
- Click CONTINUE. The CONTENT tab opens in which you can add the contents.
- Choose a Validity and provide a Price for the Catalog Item. These are mandatory fields.
- Click the Plus button to view all the learning objects, courses, and learning paths that can be mapped to the Resource, Course, Learning Path, or Content bundle.
- Only the items that can be mapped to the particular Catalog Item will be visible on clicking the Plus button.
- Click SAVE.
To edit an existing Catalog Item:
- In the Manage Content page, click the CATALOG ITEMS tab.
- Click the Edit icon in the Catalog Item that needs to be edited.
- Update the required details and the content.
- Upon clicking SAVE, you must choose for whom the changes will be affected.
- Click SAVE again.
